Michelle- addiction activist, author and speaker is talks with me about her journey of love and addiction. After so much painful effort in her marriage, Michelle realized she could not save the man she loved from the disease of addiction. And now she is out to support other women who are fighting for their joy, their lives and their hope while being married to men who are addicts.
We talk about what life is like being married to an addict. How she mothered through it all. How we and why we should focus more on ourselves, especially in a marriage faced with addiction. And why we tend to end up with guys who are no good for us. Michelle has also created a podcast for women who love someone that drinks too much or suffered from any addiction. You are not alone in this and you don't have to be. So if this topic resonates with you I hope you feel like you have a place to reach out and find help and hope.

Dr. Borba is a globally-recognized educational psychologist and parenting, bullying and character expert whose aim is to strengthen children’s empathy and resilience, and break the cycle of youth violence. Dr. Michele Borba and I, get into the 9 habits kids need to nurture empathy and why it's so important that they have this skill. We talk about how we can start teaching our kiddos about empathy today and how we may be unknowingly contributing to our kids thinking it's all about them. Also, fear not teen mommas! Dr. Borba talks about how it's not too late for teens to start displaying empathy either!
In this episode we talk about being a business momma. That it doesn't have to be work over children or children over work. You can do both. And maybe it requires a little risk taking to be able to be a working momma. We also talk about Ashley's journey through Lyme disease and postpartum depression. How community really helped and how she learned to focus on herself and her needs though those harder times. And lastly we talk about Ashley's three awesome girls and being a girl momma!
Sometimes we get lost in the shuffle of motherhood. We hit a point where we have this creative energy or the desire to do something outside of nap times and bottle feedings. But the guilt trip is tough. Randi Zinn from Beyondmom.com and I talk about rediscovering ourselves outside of motherhood, not feeling guilty about pursuing our passions or doing what fuels us. We also talk a tiny bit about strong willed parenting. And last but not least it wouldn't be a true mom conversation without a little talk about the curse that is the trampoline after motherhood. It happens to the best of us!
